About

The H Group Foundation was founded in memory of Mr. J B Harrington by Shirley Harrington, Orbra Harrington Porter, and Lee Harrington in an effort to continue his legacy of supporting education, wealth-building and career training of the youth of our city. He believed that faith and education were the keys to improving our community and creating a lasting impact. As a direct result of his influence, H Group Foundation was created to provide at-risk and under-served communities opportunities and projects that encourage  wealth-building and goal attainment through a focus on educational enhancement and effective decision making.

In May of 2019 the vision for H Group Foundation took shape to address the need of students within the extended Harrington family cope with the transition to virtual learning at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. There were also other circumstances present within the city that prompted action to support basic needs such as food and water for one of the local senior citizen living facilities. 

The H Group Foundation was incorporated under the Mississippi Secretary of State's office as a non-profit organization in June of 2019 and additionally received 501c(3) tax-exempt status in January of 2020. We honor the memory of J B Harrington as we continue to support the efforts of youth and young adults that strive to continue their education, build small businesses and contribute as great citizens.
